2018 Camp Miranda Plus!
This form is for Member sign ups only. Non-members must sign up in person.
Camp Miranda Plus! is a summer day camp for children 5-12 years old with a maximum of 12 campers per session. All sessions run Monday - Friday. Sign ups are for the full 5-day session only and will not be pro-rated for missed time. The Camp fee includes morning and afternoon snack, but does not include lunch. Lunches may be brought in from home or pre-ordered from the Foothills Snack Bar.
Camp offers children a safe and relaxed environment in which to explore their interests and develop their skills. Our tennis and swimming components include basic instruction, games and fun activities. Campers must have the skills to stay above water on their own. Lunchtime features a variety of activities, stories, and organized games. The special class will vary from week to week and by age group.
Price:
Full Day: $475 for members, $575 for non-members
Half Day (members only, limited to 2 per session): $235
*No class July 4th - Session 4 pro-rate:
Full Day: $380 for members, $460 for non-members

Refunds:
Once a camper has been registered, the fee is non-refundable after June 1. You may reschedule to another session, if space is available.

Session 1:
BrainVyne Lego® Robotics
June 11 – 15
Young Engineers will build Lego® robots while exploring different themes: Amazing Mechanisms and Wild Animals. Campers will learn basics of scratch programming through a drag and drop, icon based program. Campers will then build Lego® models featuring motors and sensors, program their models through their own code, and explore a series of cross curricular activities using Lego® Education’s premier WeDo® Lego® robotics program.
Session 2:
Mad Science (“Fizz”-ical Phenomena & Che-Mystery)
June 18 – 22
Have a ton of fun as we whip up potions and experiment with all kinds of chemical reactions, including growing our own crystals, making sidewalk chalk, and learning the science of chromatography on a Mad Science Lab Coat you get to keep! Mix it up as we experiment with molecular madness, radical reactions, and “fizz”-ical and chemical reactions. Discover what those crazy chemists are really up to in their laboratories! Daily Themes: Mad Messages, Crazy Chemistry, Radical Reactions, Chemical Counting, and Scene of the Crime.
Session 3:
Painting
June 25 – 29
Join us for a week of painting. Campers will learn to paint by step-by-step instructions. We will reproduce famous paintings on canvas using acrylic paints. Campers will learn the techniques of mixing colors, blending colors on canvas, and all of the painting strokes used to produce an acrylic painting. Painting is a great way to relax and let one’s creativity flow.
Session 4:
Play-well Lego® STEM
July 2 – 6*
Give your imagination a boost with tens of thousands of Lego parts! Build engineer-designed projects such as: Cities, Garbage Trucks, Catamarans, and Dinosaurs. Apply real-world concepts in physics and architecture through projects such as: Forklifts, Houseboats, Mini Golf Courses and the London Tower Bridge. Design and build as never before, and explore your craziest ideas in a supportive environment.
Session 5:
Multimedia Art
July 9 – 13
Join us for a week of art using different types of media. Campers will make creative pieces of art using media such as oil and chalk pastels, paint, puff paint, mod podge as well as other art mediums. This week of art will expose campers to the wide spectrum of art styles and techniques. Campers will surely be impressed with their artwork. After each lesson, they will take their artwork home with them.
Session 6:
Play-well Minecraft Lego® Engineering
July 16 – 20
Bring Minecraft to life! Build engineer-designed projects such as: motorized Creeper, a portal to the Nether, and a moving mine cart! Campers will explore real-world concepts in physics, engineering, and architecture while building their favorite Minecraft objects. Whether you are new to Minecraft and Lego or a seasoned veteran, you’ll be hooked on the endless creative possibilities.
Session 7:
BrainVyne Lego® Zoom & Star Wars
July 23 – 27
Campers will create battery – powered Lego® creations on wheels and artistic model vehicles. They will learn how gears and wheels can come together with good build technique to affect speed. Campers will use battery packs and motors to give life to creations like a helicopter, swing, and walking camel. They will learn from hands-on building how form and function come together in a great design.
