What is Year-Round Swimming?
Foothills Tennis & Swim Club trains under Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics (PASA). PASA has 5 sites under its name: Foothills under the SCRA site, University Club, Alpine Hills, Palo Alto Swim Club & PACA. Click here for the PASA home page.
  
Who can participate?
This year round swim team is available to all Foothills members, as well as non-members.

2010 Practice Schedule at Foothills
Pre-competitive classes, Mon & Wed / Tue & Thurs. Fee does not include t-shirt and cap.

  • PC1 (Jellyfish) & PC2 (Manta Rays): 3:30–4:00pm
    PC3 (Seals): 4:00-4:30pm
    PC4 (Dolphins): 5:30–6:00pm & 6:00–6:30pm

    Two days a week for 8 weeks: $190

    Fridays only: 4:00–4:30pm & 5:30–6:00pm
    Saturdays only: 10:00–11:00am & 11:00am–12:00pm
    One day a week for 8 weeks: $95

Mon through Thurs

  • Group 1, Novice (approximate ages 5-10)  
    4:40-5:25pm

    Equipment needed: long fins
    $375 NM, $275 M
  • Group 2, Intermediate (approximate ages 7-12)
    3:35–4:45pm

    Swimmers may be asked to attend some Saturday morning workouts
    Equipment needed: long fins
    $405 NM, $305 M
  • Group 3, Advanced (approximate ages 10 & up)
    4:50–6:55pm (dry-land 4:50-5:20)

    Select Saturdays 9:00–11:00am (no dry-land)
    Equipment needed: PDF fins / front mounted snorkel
    $445 NM, $335 M
  • Group 4, Advanced (approximate ages 12 & up)
    4:50–7:10pm (dry-land 4:50-5:20)
    Select Saturdays 9:00 – 11:00am (no dry-land)
    Equipment needed: PDF fins / pull buoy & paddles
    $455 NM, $345 M

New Friday Practices
3:40 to 4:40 groups 1 & 2 boys only
4:40 to 5:40 groups 1 & 2 girls only
5:40 to 7:00 all swimmers in groups 3 & 4

Registration

Each swimmer must pay an annual registration fee pro-rated depending on when you start. This covers your team t-shirt, team cap, USA swimming membership (insurance), general overhead and administration. There is also a fee per session for each group. There is no registration fee for pre-comp.

Meets

  • Sat & Sun, October 9 & 10
    C/B/A + Swim Meet at DeAnza College in Cupertino, hosted by the DACA swim club. This is our first meet of the season!
  • Sat & Sun, October 30 & 31
    C/B/A + Swim Meet at Burlingame High – hosted by the Burlingame Aquatic Club. This is always a fun meet to attend as the coaches have a costume contest on Halloween.
Unsanctioned Swim Meets: several of these will be dual site meets
Fall candy league meet schedule: C/B swimmers only (times not official for USA)
  • October 1 at FTSC vs Alpine Hills – 4:00 warm-ups/4:45 starts
    THE FTSC POOL WILL BE CLOSED FROM 4:00-7:00PM NO REC OR LAP SWIMMING
  • October 15 at LAGCC, & Alpine  Hills – 4:00 warm-ups/4:45 starts
  • October 29 Possible Candy Meet TBD
  • November 7 at SCRA, Pentathlon Meet – 11:00 warm-ups/12:00 starts

You cannot compete in more than 2 relays on the 1st week (NO EXCEPTIONS)
You cannot compete in more than 3 relays on the 2nd + 3rd week (NO EXCEPTIONS)
Each team member must compete in 1 relay per week – you may have tohave 1 swimmer swim 2 times in a race if there are not enough swimmers.
If members of your team are not there and you have to swim 2 times in arelay on any of the days, this counts towards the limit placed PER WEEKthat you are allowed to participate.
 
1st place 10 points, 2nd place 7 points, 3rd place 6 points, 4th place 5 points, 5th place 4 points, 6th place 3 points

Non-Member Reminders
Please remember that this is a private club. Swimmers should arrive at most 15 minutes before practice and leave at most 15 minutes after practice. PASA will be given access to the locker rooms and showers only. Swimmers need to pick up after themselves, leaving the locker room clean. Swim bags need to be left outside of the locker rooms during practice (in designated sheds or on the sport court).

Financial Aid
We never want to see a swimmer out of the water due to financial hardship. If you need to make special payment arrangements or need financial aid please speak to our head coach, Dave Zapp.
