About Swim Lessons at Foothills
We believe that swimming is more than just water safety; it's part of a lifelong program for health, safety and enjoyment. The purpose of our swim program is to:
- Provide outstanding instruction for all swimming abilities
- Teach safety and lifelong aquatic skills
- Create a fun yet challenging experience
Who can participate?
Foothills members and non-members of all ages are welcome. The best time to start swim lessons is around the ages of 2 to 3 years old. However, some 2-year-olds may not be ready to begin lessons this early. If your child is age 3 or younger, they must wear a waterproof diaper while in the pool.
About our instructors
Most of our instructors come from a competitive swimming background. They are patient and knowledgeable about swimming and child development. Each instructor receives ongoing training and reviews to ensure the best swimming instruction possible.

Spring and summer lessons
Member registration begins on the first Saturday in April. Foothills members are given priority registration for the next two weeks, after which enrollment is on a first come, first served basis. Non-member registration begins in mid-April. All non-members must pay in full for all sessions at the time of registration. Each instructor has his/her own swim binder containing all dates and times the instructor is available through spring and summer. It is recommended that you sign up early since time slots fill up fast.
Ask at the front office for assistance with the binders, or call the office 650.493.8540 to check schedule openings. Non-member sign-ups must still be taken in person. No credit cards accepted, check or cash only.
