As
I sat on the porch of our bed & breakfast overlooking the clouds
rolling over the mountains in Costa Rica it gave me some time to reflect
on our summer and how we did as a team. I thought the best word to
describe us was “balanced”. It was the perfect picture, with great
swimmers in each of the age groups guiding us through the 5 dual meets,
the relay meet and championship meet with victories. But bigger than
that was how we accomplished this great feat – it was the balance of fun
and hard work.
Another part of the “balance” that keeps me smiling is how our 14 and up
swimmers really have taken ownership of being the “role models” for our
younger swimmers. So many help out with teaching the younger swimmers
in their practices and also helping at swim meets. It has really made
the difference in the development of our swimmers and program over the
years.
In our club’s history, we have only been able to “Triple Crown” (taking
first in all the meets) 2 times. With a lot of hard work and dedication,
we were able to add to that total this summer and proudly display all 3
“Triple Crown” trophies in the swim office reminding us of those
special seasons.
